Will the Buddyrider Series 2 fit my bike in NZ

It is so easy to fit a Buddyrider on most styles of bike in NZ but there are a few things that you need to know..

The Buddyrider Pet Bike seat is suitable for most bicycle styles, however there are some fitting requirements.  To help you determine if Buddyrider will fit your bike please measure your bike as per the instructions below and take note of the instructions regarding step through bikes and seat posts.

Position of Buddyrider

10.16cm of clearance is required so your handlebars do not hit the Buddyrider.  (Note that the image shown above is set at the furthest point back from the handlebars) The exact position on your bike may vary.

There must be 48.5cm - 19" or more between the seat post and handlebars.

Seat Post position

The seatpost on your bike must be between 2.5cm and 3.17cm - 1" and 11/4" in diameter.

Approximately at least 4.45cm - 1/3/4" of seat post must be revealed to attach the Buddyrider.

How to install your Buddyrider

Check all parts are included.

Raise the front platform and secure the centre support arm with the blue screw and one of the washers.  Do not over tighten.

Attach the collar to the 4 tie down straps as shown.  Clips will be infront and behind the neck and connected to the Buddyrider via the straps on the sides.  Leave the collar unclipped for now.

If you think your Buddy needs to sit in the seat to try it out then do this on the ground as shown above.

Get your Buddy comfortable in the seat whilst on the ground.  If your Buddy is a little unsettled try treats to settle them, most dogs sit happily in the seat. Adjust the collar width to the size of your dogs neck and ensure that it clips in safely and securely.

Attache the receiver to the seat post on your bike with open end facing up.  At least 4cm of the post must be exposed.  Position the receiver as high up on the seat post as you can to maximise legroom for when you are pedeling.

Insert the metal arm with the metal plate facing upwards and secure the quick-release pin and R-Pin as shown.

Position the seat on the arm plate as far forward as possible without interfering with the handlebars and steering post.  Mark this position on the arm with a pencil behind the pet seat.  Remove the metal arm using the quick-release pin from the bike.

Position the seat onto arm plate as close to the pencil mark as possible wjile linning up the holes, using the four red screws and washers provided.  Mount the pet seat onto the metal bar plate making sure all four screws are in position before tightning.  Do not over tighten.

Place your pet into the seat and fastening the collar that is attached to the seat around your buddy's neck and make sure your buddy is clipped in safely and your pet is secure.

You are now ready for your Buddyrider adventures

Hop on your bike and ride slowly at first so your pet can get used to it.
